What We Help With
We usually work with organisations that are trying to improve things like:
- reporting that is harder than it should be
- too much manual admin and follow-up
- spreadsheets and workarounds holding too much together
- systems that do not match how the team actually works
- uncertainty about what to fix first
- automation questions where the real issue is the setup, not just the tool
Why Organisations Work With Us

We solve the problem first
Technology matters, but it is not the starting point. We begin by understanding what is actually making the work harder than it should be.

We tailor the work to how your organisation operates
Every organisation has its own pressures, processes, and constraints. We shape the solution around how your team really works.

We keep it practical
We focus on useful improvements that are realistic to implement, affordable to maintain and designed to reduce friction rather than add more of it.

We work with you, not around you
We see the relationship as a partnership. That means listening well, being transparent, and building something that your team can actually use and own.

Meet our Founder
David Watters- Founder & CEO
David has worked in digital transformation for more than 12 years, helping organisations improve the way they work through better systems, clearer processes and more practical use of technology.
Over that time, he has worked with foundations, non-profits, small businesses and government organisations across Australia, New Zealand, the US, and the UK. That experience has shaped a practical approach: focus on the real problem, keep things as simple as possible and build solutions that smaller teams can actually use and maintain.
David particularly enjoys working with smart, passionate people who are trying to make the world better. If he can play a small part in helping that work run more smoothly, feel less frustrating and achieve more impact, he finds that deeply rewarding.
He has also shared his perspective on nonprofit operations, technology, and practical systems improvement through conversations with platforms including A Modern Nonprofit Podcast, Nonprofit Hub, and Nonprofit Launch Plan.
Who We Work Best With
Simple and Engaging is usually a good fit for:
Non-profits and smaller organisations with limited time and internal capacity
Teams that know work feels harder than it should, but are not yet sure why
Organisations that want practical help improving reporting, process, systems, or automation
People who want realistic improvements, not a giant technology project
What This Looks Like In Practice
We help organisations reduce manual work, improve reporting, and build systems that better support how the work actually happens.
Simple and Engaging were really good at finding that balance point between not over-engineering, but also making sure it was fit for purpose. We needed to work with someone like yourself who could sort of be a ‘partner in crime’ as we stepped through this process that we hadn’t done before.

Our Values
At Simple and Engaging our values drive how we do business and how we work
Always learning
We are always learning from experience, feedback, and outcomes. That means reflecting on what is working, improving where needed, and staying open to better ways of doing things.
Always practical
We believe in making progress through useful action. That means starting with the real problem, making sensible improvements, learning from what happens, and adjusting as needed.
Always inclusive
We believe better outcomes come from respect, involvement, and a genuine openness to different perspectives, experiences, and ways of working.
How Simple and Engaging Has Evolved
Simple and Engaging began in 2020 and has evolved over time as the work became clearer.
We started in broader technology and digital consulting, then moved toward managed support and practical systems work. Today, the focus is much more specific: helping non-profits use better processes, data, systems, and automation to reduce friction and make reporting and operations easier to run.
Our Team
We work with a trusted network of professionals and specialists depending on the needs of the project. This allows us to stay flexible, bring in the right expertise when needed, and keep the work practical and well matched to each organisation.

Commitment to Sustainability
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and making practical choices that support sustainability in how we operate.
Since 2022, we have offset 85.70 tonnes of CO2-e with Greenfleet. We also use GreenGeeks for web hosting as part of our commitment to more sustainable operations.
