3 Free tools to help you level up your lead generation

Technology illustrations by Storyset

Lead generation is arguably one of the most difficult but crucial aspects of any business. Whether you are sending emails to prospects, identifying target accounts, or attempting to engage prospects through paid ads, having tools at your disposal to help you find the magic source to close more deals is critical.

A Google search for lead generation software yields over 341,000,000 results, indicating that there is clearly a lot available. In our next instalment, we’ve selected three tools for various aspects of lead generation to assist you in generating new business!

Free Lead GenerationTool 1 (To help build your target account list) – BuiltWith

What is it:

BuiltWith is a clever tool that scraped the web and compiled a list of 60,000+ web technologies from over 673 million websites. The site provides a comprehensive breakdown of all the various technologies used to build, host, and run a specific website, giving you a detailed understanding of the current technology that they may be paying for. This allows you to find and target specific companies based on their technology profile, as well as gather more detailed information on a potential company.

What’s great about it:

The data can be searched in a variety of ways, including listing websites that use a specific technology, searching by technology keywords, and displaying what technology is trending across the web.

What are the limitations:

Because BuiltWith is solely focused on web technologies, it is more advantageous for technology, digital marketing, consultancy, and IT businesses to use to identify potential clients, conduct market research, or gather more information on a prospective client.

Pricing model:

Decent Free Plan. Website searches are free, and limited lists of websites using specific technologies can be exported. Their cheapest plan is quite pricey, so make sure you can get some good value from their free plan so that the move to the paid plan is purely for scaling purposes.

Free Tool 2 (To help get the contact details for your target account list) – Business Email Address Finder

What is it:

Full disclosure, this is one of my links, but it does what it says on the tin: the link takes you to a free Udemy course that walks you through a step-by-step process for finding (almost) anyone’s business email address using a free tool. A great, free way to build a list for cold sales emails!

What’s great about it:

The process is very simple; I’ve created a Google Sheet that you can copy to help speed up the process, and you can use it to find up to 5000 email addresses per month. Another advantage is that part of the process includes validating the email address and determining the likelihood of delivery.

What are the limitations:

It can take up to 3 minutes to find each person’s email address, so your time is limited. Fortunately, it is a simple process that you can delegate to a Virtual Assistant or a member of your team.

Pricing model:

Genuinely free to use. The course is free, as is the template, and the process makes use of free tools. Only if you have more than 5,000 contacts in a month will you have to pay anything.

Free Tool 3 (To help engage your prospect) – Tripetto Conversational Forms

What is it:

Tripetto is a highly customizable online form creator, similar to Survey Monkey and Typeform. It offers a variety of form design options as well as the ability to create very complex question and answer logic, calculations, and survey close options.

What’s great about it:

Apart from a few very specific question types (such as ranking a list of responses), Tripetto is highly customizable and adaptable to almost any data capture requirement. I also like the conversation style form design, which provides a ‘chat-bot’ style design for data collection. Finally, the customisable form closing screens are very useful, as you can display almost anything to the user depending on the responses provided – very useful for providing personalised results at the end.

What are the limitations:

The form builder’s user interface is not particularly intuitive or clunky, so it may take some getting used to. Tripetto is also designed to be embedded within your website rather than as a standalone page. This means that if you run it as a standalone page, you’ll have a difficult time getting your logo/branding on every page. It is much better to embed it into your own website.

Pricing model:

Genuinely free to use. Unlimited responses and forms; the only paid feature is the removal of the Tripetto branding, which is very subtle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Are there any restrictions on the types of websites or businesses that can be targeted using BuiltWith?

Answer: BuiltWith doesn’t specify any restrictions on the types of websites or businesses that can be targeted using their platform. However, it’s more advantageous for technology, digital marketing, consultancy, and IT businesses to use it to identify potential clients or conduct market research due to its focus on web technologies.

Question: How accurate is the process for finding business email addresses with the Business Email Address Finder tool?

Answer: While the process is straightforward and includes validating the email address and determining the likelihood of delivery, its important to remember that this will never be 100%. In our experience its worked out to be around 90-95% accurate.

Question: Can Tripetto integrate with other platforms or CRM systems for seamless data management?

Answer: Tripetto can integrate with other platforms or CRM systems for seamless data management using their webhook functionality and an integration platform. Check out our Small Business Automation Tools page for more info.
